Incredible update on Boston Bombing

ITEM: BOSTON BOMBING UPDATE: The L.A Times reports that five days before two bombs tore through crowds at the Boston Marathon, an intelligence report identified the finish line of the race as an “area of increased vulnerability” and warned Boston police that extremists may use “small scale bombings” to attack spectators and runners at the event.
Let me translate: They knew exactly what was going to happen, where it was going to happen and when it was going to happen… so what happened?
The FBI has acknowledged that agents had interviewed Tamerlan Tsarnaev in 2011 but determined that he did not pose a threat. Customs agents were aware that Tsarnaev had traveled to Russia in 2012, but decided that he didn’t require additional questioning when he returned to the U.S. later that year.
Let me translate: They knew who one of the bombers was, knew he was some sort of risk, and knew he went to a part of Russia known for terrorist recruiting and training – yet did not tell Boston Police any of it, including that the Russians had tipped them off about the brothers… so what happened?
The FBI also did not tell Homeland Security about what they knew of the brothers, the potential Boston Marathon threat, the Russian intelligence or Tsarnaev’s trip and return from Russia. Local members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force, the first line of defense, were also not informed of what the FBI knew.
Let me translate: The FBI is ineffectual, broken and borderline complicit in the three killed and 260 injured at the marathon and the policeman who was also murdered by the brothers. Sharing this critical information may have prevented the entire bloodbath.
The FBI, along with heavily armed paramilitary police, SWAT Teams, local police, Sherriff’s Department, Special terrorism units, and Department of Homeland Security tracked the two Islamic terrorists and had them surrounded. In a stolen SUV, the younger ran over his brother and despite overwhelming numbers and forces firing hundreds of rounds in the shoot-out, the teenager managed to drive away.
Let me translate: They had urban SUVs and tanks. They had machine guns – actual military-style assault weapons. They had helicopters in the air. They had armor plated Hummers and all the rounds they could fire.
Although critically injured, the 19-year-old managed to get outside the perimeter police set up, primarily because the city was on full lockdown and people were told to stay in their homes. No one was outside to see a bloody terrorist, limping and struggling down neighborhood streets in broad daylight. A homeowner going out for a smoke found him and called 911.
SUMMARY: Government is incompetent at best and a bloated, distrustful, paranoid necessary evil at worst. Thinking more government is the answer to any of our problems is borderline lunacy.
PS: I guess that also puts to rest the question of whether we need to limit the number of bullets in a magazine for self-defense?
