CBS News is out with a new poll today, and it’s a doozy. Hey Washington politicians, from President Obama to the rank-and-file in Congress: you may want to run for your lives. By growing numbers, the American people are thoroughly disgusted with you. The poll found that 8 in 10 Americans are unhappy with Washington, and nearly 30 percent describe themselves as “angry.” Both of those numbers have jumped in recent months and are now the highest recorded since CBS began asking the question in 2010. In December, 75 percent of the country were unhappy with D.C., and only 21 percent were angry. An important related number: 61 percent of the country believe the country is on the wrong track, the highest number since right after the debt ceiling debate in August 2011. Congressional job approval also fell — to 11 percent from 14 percent. Eighty-one percent of the country disapprove of how Congress is handling its duties. (11 percent think Congress is doing a good job? Who are these people?) But hey Obama! You may want to stop chuckling at the dire straits in which Congress finds itself, because you’re sucking salt too. Obama’s job approval has fallen from 52 percent in February to 45 percent today, and his disapproval has jumped from 38 percent to 46 percent, the CBS poll found. Something must be done. Brace yourselves for more lies, more demonization of Republicans, more class warfare, more wealth redistribution….Obama’s tried-and-true techniques and policies to try to buoy those sagging numbers. Not sure they’re going to work these days, but since they’re the only things in Obama’s repertoire, we’ll be seeing them front-and-center again. Oh yes. This is, after all, the Groundhog Day presidency: the same destructive policies and dishonest rhetoric over and over and over again, until the “fundamental transformation of the nation” has been achieved. So, given these bad poll numbers for him, brace yourselves for another round.
