Obama’s Fundraiser Speeches Reek of Desperation

At a fundraiser yesterday, President Obama continued spouting what most believe to be completely incorrect garbage.
“Those of use who have spent time in the real world understand that the problem is not that the American people aren’t productive enough,” he said in reference to Romney believing that America prospers when the wealthy prosper. “[Romney] says his 25 years in the private sector gives him a special understanding of how the economy works, so my question is why are you running with the same bad ideas that brought our economy to the brink of disaster?”
To start, when did Obama spend time in the real world? I was under the impression he graduated from Columbia University to become a community organizer, went to Harvard Law, wrote a memoir as a ‘lecturer’ at Chicago Law School, then became a politician. So, his paychecks came from the government basically the entire time? No struggling to find a job? No being underemployed after graduation? That doesn’t seem very ‘real-world’ to me.
The second part of the preceding quote seems a little off as well. Does Romney’s experience at the helm of a successful private equity firm really help him? We can’t know for sure, but consider this little tidbit: the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that since Obama’s first month as President, America has only seen a net growth of 100,000 jobs.
Whenever you hear Obama say he has created 4.3 million jobs, just go to the government funded statistical database on jobs and double-check that. A net gain of 100,000 jobs is substantially fewer than 4.3 million. If he really ‘created’ 4.3 million jobs, unemployment wouldn’t be so high.
To give a little perspective, Romney’s Bain Capital invested in a small office supply company called Staples in the late 80’s. That once small company today employs almost 90,000 people. Romney helped one company almost achieve what the entire federal government has done for the economy in 3 and a half years.
But Obama wasn’t done yet: he then had the audacity to blame Republicans for the budget crisis AGAIN:
The president also said that Republicans, not Democrats, caused the current budget crisis. “I love listening to these guys give us lectures about debt and deficits. I inherited a trillion dollar deficit!” he said. Obama compared Republicans to a person who orders a steak dinner and martini and then, “just as you’re sitting down, they leave, and accuse you of running up the tab.”
Does he not remember that Democrats controlled Congress from 2007 until 2011? Obama had every ability to enact basically anything he wanted to for his first two years, but instead of focusing on the economy, he decided to waste a bunch of time by proposing his hastily prepared health care reform.
All of these events are signs of desperation — the man is reaching for anything to hold onto. If you have spent so much time in the real world, why don’t you tell us about it? And if Republicans have left you with a trillion dollar deficit, why did your party pass those measures when they controlled Congress? If Romney’s ideas are so bad, why aren’t your ideas working?
