It there is nothing else one can gain from a failure, the very least one can do is take great care in accounting for the data gained, and what it means in total. I hope none of my readers were shocked on Wednesday morning. We watched the most manipulated and abused election in our history take place, with four years of warning on most of the election issues, and months of warning on all the rest.
It is easy to set back and blame then districts which registered 150% of the electorate as voting, to note now, the vast in-pouring of foreign money, not having done anything about it previously. The issue is this; when you define the problem as not in your hands, you have just said you are helpless.
Go back to the selection process; we had half a dozen serious, well prepared candidates, prepared to contend. The debates, at best were poorly run, they did not demonstrate the most qualified candidate, but were manipulated to ensure the party favorite took it home. Conservatives were represented but the Party controlled the selection.
For nigh on forty years, Congressman Ron Paul has always made the best case as a candidate for “The Republic”, this is undeniable. Equally on the stage was Governor Huckabee, representing the Christian right, along with several others from different perspectives. Of them all, Romney was “the Party man”, every other was put up from the grass roots.
We went into the election to select the person who best represents the conservation of our founding principles, our first considerations, our rights, and our security, as citizens, and as a Nation. The other party went in for the sole purpose of retaining the incumbent.
We were given someone to represent the government in our name, and in many cases, we did not vote, rather than vote for “the lesser of two evils”. We are in this world not of it, but none the less, we have an impact. We must participate to be of any use to God, so, if Satan is running for office, and the newest, least of imps in lined up opposite, is it not better to vote for that least imp, knowing Satan had the power of God’s right hand once, while that latest imp can’t hold a candle to the first rebel?
The only thing you get by not voting is the satisfaction of Pilate, who is said to have washed his hands of the whole affair. As the Governor the law gave him no right to put his authority in the hand of the people. Even as they called for Barabas, Pilate knew Jesus was innocent, as Governor he was to rule, not please the people; He washed his hands, ceremoniously, but it was his choice and responsible despite the outcry. He ignored duty, he failed to rule, sovereignty has demands, it was his to tell The People, “I see no wrong in this man, he is free, I will not set a sentenced criminal free, because you, the crowd, are worked up”.
It is better to vote for the imp, knowing he at least must be slow for having to come and go so often, not being his own master, than to ensure the master of Evil has free rein. In battle, we maneuver to pit our best Warriors, our best strengths, to bear against the weakest point we know of. In war we only get to pick our foe by choosing our battle. In politics, we at least get to vote, and it is a limited contest. Make no mistake; Romney was the choice of the obama campaign to run against, the same people rule over both parties.
We are not prepared to win. If we wish to win, we have to recognize, we don’t have the same intended outcome. He was not talking about flavors of ice cream in “fundamentally changing our Nation”, he truly meant ending the Republic, and remaking it a social democracy.
We’ve all watched hard fought games, where the star quarterback on the team behind gets hurt, reluctantly, the coach pulls out his second, and in essence, “writes off the game”. Every once in a while, that player who has only stepped in before on chance, an unknown, plays like a hero, gets a clear throw, a receiver in the end zone makes the catch, and the team wins.
We had no strategy when it became clear Romney was not going to go for a win. Each of us sat listening to him, knowing he would not say what had to be said to win. We knew he was “a party man”, and we knew from the start, he would not call the incumbent on his actual failures. If we intended to win, we should have been ready to pull a loser out, and put in our best second string, maybe the next champion.
