A group of U.S. Muslims and Arab-Americans are visiting the North African country of Morocco this week to talk with that nation’s government and civil organizations about strengthening democracy, according to the Council on American-Islamic Relations. The 16-member U.S. delegation has met with officials from groups including the country’s parliament, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Council for Human Rights. The delegation includes members of CAIR, the Muslim American Society, Islamic Circle of North America, Syrian American Council, American Muslims for Palestine, and the Coordinating Council of Muslim Organizations, as well as James Gomez of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition and Randa Fahmy Hudome, a former George W. Bush administration official. Political reforms and democracy like the Arab Spring? Morocco must be in need of Saudi money. Either way, Morocco should be wary and these Muslim Brotherhood groups should be banned in the U.S. just like they were in Egypt.
