Joe Biden wasn’t going to make the same mistake Barack Obama made in his debate with Mitt Romney.

In his match with Paul Ryan last week, the vice president came out aggressive, feisty, engaged and loose.

Maybe just a little too aggressive, feisty, engaged and loose.

There’s no question Biden was on offense throughout the contest. The question is whether he carried that too far and appeared offensive.

Laughing derisively, making mocking faces, interrupting at every turn, Biden showed himself to be a fool – a man desperately trying to hang on to power.

And he did this with the approval and encouragement of a “moderator,” Martha Raddatz, who was anything but impartial and fair. In fact, frequently, she joined in the interruptions of Ryan.

This wasn’t a debate. It was an ambush – a politically calculated, coordinated, strategic attack carried out by a Democratic Party hack and his willing accomplice pretending to be a journalist.

I don’t think there’s much question that for those who actually listened to the substance offered in the debate, Ryan still came out on top – despite the stacked deck.

For instance, on the Iran nuclear issue, Biden would have Americans believe the following logic: You notice your neighbor is stockpiling bags of dog food. But your neighbor doesn’t have a dog. In fact, your neighbor doesn’t even yet have a dog bowl in which to pour this food. The conclusion Biden wants you to draw is that your neighbor is not planning to get a dog.

Does that make sense?

Not in the real world.

But in the fantasy world of Joe Biden, where personal political empowerment is the only game that counts, that’s the stuff he is selling. And he was selling it hard last Thursday.

How about on the issue of abortion and his pseudo-Catholic conscience?

Here is what Biden was selling during the rigged debate: “Personally, I am opposed to killing Jews. But if someone else wants to kill the Jews, they should have the right to do it.”

That’s not what he said, of course, but it is the natural progression of the illogic he uses to make his anti-life agenda a tad more palatable to non-thinking, morally relativistic Americans. And that illogic went unchallenged by an immoderate moderator.

Nevertheless, despite the manipulation of facts and the unfairness of the setting, every poll of viewers of the debate – including those done by networks shamelessly hyping Obama and Biden since 2008 – indicated Paul Ryan won the contest.

That’s encouraging.

It means more Americans are waking up.

They are using their own reasoning faculties rather than allowing themselves to be programmed by cultural institutions, like the establishment media, hell-bent on “transforming America” from its unique heritage as a constitutional republic in which the federal government actually has some limits on its power and individuals actually are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights.

They are actually observing the declining standard of living America is experiencing as a result of this transformation and rejecting it – properly assigning blame to those who have had power for the last four years.

They are actually recognizing that changing horses is a good idea if and when the horse you are riding insists on going in the wrong direction.

They are actually seeing through the foolishness, the pettiness, the rage and the determined self-interest of the Obama regime whose only “success” over the last four years is in its determination to “fundamentally transform” America from its unique experiment in self-government.
