Lego said the demise of "Jabba's Palace" had nothing to do with the racism claims and meetings with Turks, and all to do with the natural lifecycle of the product. Katharina Sasse, a public relations manager working on behalf of Lego, told The Daily Telegraph that the Palace or product number 9516 in Lego-speak was due to be phased out at the end of 2013. "There have been no changes to the product 9516 or its lifecycle due to the dialogue with the Turkish community," she explained. Sounds like Legos is embarrassed for caving into Muslim cry babies and is just giving us a very,very lame excuse.

Gamal Eid, director of the Arab Network for Human Rights Information (ANHRI), stated that the marriage of Egyptian males to female Syrian refugees in exchange for money is a form of human trafficking. The union stated that Syrian women are made available for marriage to Egyptian men in exchange for EGP 500 per wife, adding that such marriages are especially abundant in 6th of October City, 10th of Ramadan City, and New Cairo, as well as the Alexandria, Al-Daqahleya and Al-Gharbeya governorates. In one year 12,000 marriages have taken place, the union claimed. The phenomenon has expanded to Facebook pages offering Syrian women for marriage. One particular page, “Syrian girls for marriage in Egypt”, links the marriage to Islamic religion and describes them as offering a helping hand to struggling girls and widows. Another example includes a flyer belonging to a company called Al-Basma. The flyer, reportedly distributed at Nasser mosque in Damanhour, offers “well-mannered, veiled, and Syrian” women for marriage. The company Al-Basma could not be reached for comment. READ MORE

Bangladesh police have arrested three atheist bloggers for allegedly defaming Islam and the Prophet Mohammed, police said Tuesday, amid calls from religious fundamentalists for an Internet crackdown. The arrest of the three, who were paraded in handcuffs at a news conference, followed pressure from Islamists who have organised a march from all over the country to the capital to demand the death penalty for atheist bloggers. “They have hurt the religious feelings of the people by writing against different religions and their prophets and founders including the Prophet Mohammed,” said deputy commissioner of Dhaka police, Molla Nazrul Islam. The three could face 10 years in jail if convicted under the country's cyber laws which outlaw “defaming” a religion, Islam said.

Beebout was sentenced earlier this month to two consecutive life terms for the aggravated murders of Mayra Sophia Cruz Rodriguez, a 15-year-old San Diego girl whose body was found in Southwest Portland's Washington Park last June, and Nikayla Powell, a 32-year-old who met Beebout while volunteering at a homeless outreach program. Beebout was a transient, and Powell let him stay at her Southeast Portland apartment, where she was found dead last July.

Fisyria.com is a standalone videofeed comprising four entries as of Monday afternoon, the first posted on March 25. Most entries deal with Jaish al-Muhajireen wa Ansar (“Army of the Emigrants and Helpers”), a group that was created in late March from a merger of several smaller rebel units. The videos include a mission statement from Jaish, whose spokesman says the group is fighting to install Islamic Shariah law in Syria; a pledge of allegiance by newly joined recruits to Jaish’s leadership; an after-action report on the battle for a military base in Aleppo; and a report of a bombing of a Syrian town, allegedly by governmental warplanes dropping Russian-made bombs, one of which did not explode and can be seen in the video sticking out of the parched, sandy ground.

“People don’t like that damn store,” said the mother, who would not give her name to a reporter. The animosity started four months ago, when the two sons of Green Ale’s owners were charged with stealing a $5 million New York lottery ticket from a customer. Robert Miles, a maintenance worker at Parkside Commons told The Post-Standard last year that Andy Ashkar, a son of the store’s owners, took the scratch-off lottery ticket from Miles in 2006 and told Miles he’d won $5,000. Miles said he knew it was really worth $5 million. Ashkar gave him $4,000, taking a $1,000 fee for the store, then ran to his car and drove off, Miles said. Ashkar, 34, and his brother, Nayel Ashkar, 36, waited six years before taking the ticket to the lottery office to claim the $5 million. Andy said he'd held off because he didn’t want his new wealth to influence his future bride's decision to marry him. He waited until 11 days before the ticket's expiration date before trying to claim his winnings. Instead of cashing in, the Ashkar brothers were charged in November with stealing the ticket from Miles. Their father and store owner, Nayef Ashkar, 56, was charged with conspiring with them. Kuwaiti authorities on Monday morning executed three men sentenced to death in separate murder cases. The Pakistani, Saudi and Bidoon (stateless resident) were executed in the Central Prison at 8am in the presence of the public prosecutor and delegates from the justice and interior ministries, Al Watan site reported. Each of the three men was allowed a final visit by their families before they were kept separately in different rooms prior to the execution, it said.
