Britain warned about cleric who may have influenced Boston bombers

So now the FBI ignored warnings from Russia, Britain and Australia.  Plus terrorist website connections…

Sounds like a repeat of their failure with Maj Nidal Hassan.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev may have been influenced by Feiz

Maajid Nawaz, the founder of the Quilliam Foundation think tank, said Australian born cleric Sheikh Feiz Muhammad "needed watching".

Although there is no evidence to suggest Feiz supports terror, Mr Nawaz said that as a fluent English and Arabic speaker like dead Al Qaeda commander al-Awlaki, the Australian was in a strong position to radicalise young Britons and other western jihadists.

Video lectures by Feiz were on the YouTube page of the older Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnev, the 26 year old brother shot dead by police.

Mr Nawaz predicted that Feiz, who blamed women for being raped and described gay men as "filthy scum", was unlikely to calm his rhetoric.

And more dangerously, now that he has fled to Lebanon, he might be an attraction for western youngsters wanting to fight with Al Qaeda in neighbouring Syria.

Mr Nawaz said: "He's gone and done exactly what al Awlaki did and relocate to an Arab country to escape the potential consequences of his views in Australia.

That indicates he is not intending to back down on his rhetoric, but escalate it.

"That indicates he is not intending to back down on his rhetoric, but escalate it.

"He could end up becoming a new reference point for the English speaking side.

"There's a lot of Australian government contacts we speak to and they're very concerned about Australian Lebanese Sunni Muslims going to Syria to join the fighting groups there including the Al Qaeda affiliate group Jabhhat al-Nusra.

"So this guy could end up being a conduit for western fighters in Syria.

Keep in mind that Omar Bakri is in Lebanon so I think this guy really needs to be watched."

Anwar al Awlaki was killed by a US drone strike in Yemen in 2011.
